Toronto’s famed period-instrument orchestra opens the 2008-09 Early Music series at the Kay Meek Centre in West Vancouver with a programme of music of the Classical era:
A youthful Mozart symphony showing his extraordinary maturity at age 18; Haydn’s long-lost
Cello Concerto, rediscovered in 1961 and now one of the staples of the cello repertoire; and the remarkable music of Saint-Georges, also known as “the black Mozart”, who was one of the most important figures in the Paris musical scene of the second half of the 18th century.
