Grouper (aka Liz Harris) plays her first ever Canadian date this Saturday night, in support of her stunning third full-length record, Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill, on the UK-based Type Records imprint.
There's been a much-deserved groundswell of overwhelmingly positive press about this LP (and Grouper's nearly impossible to find 2007 release, Cover the Windows and the Walls), much of it dropping references to My Bloody Valentine or vintage 4AD recording artists and nearly every review naming Dragging... as one of the best records to come out so far in 2008. There's also a feature on the first page of the music section in this week's Georgia Straight.
Excellent local support from drone/ambient-noise maker Aja Rose Bond + the haunting folk sounds of Ora Cogan.
Tickets at the door / advance tickets at Zulu, Scratch and Red Cat Records.
+ $3.oo pints and sushi/teriyaki until closing, of course!
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
