Event Description
The Gong Show will be held on July 13 at 8:00pm. Local people interested in
trying their luck at beating the gong are asked to contact Margo Pearce at
386 - 3367 to sign up their act. Singers, Comics, Musicians, Actors,
Acrobats, and other performers are all welcome. There are no specific
limitations to the performances (ie: anything goes). There will also be a
karaoke mic on hand for anyone who feels inspired to join in. Every
contestant will win a prize. The Grand Prize is dinner at Suze Restaurant
and a night at the Bedford Regency Hotel�s Deluxe Jacuzzi Suite!
VARCS provides practical, emotional and social support to people living with
HIV, those who care for them and prevention initiatives for people at risk
for HIV. "It's great to see local business take an interest in helping us
raise the funds we need," says John Spencer, President of the Board of
VARCS. Executive Director, Michael Yoder agrees. He adds, "We receive only a
small amount of core funding from the Vancouver Island Health Authority and
we rely on donations and events like the Gong Show to continue our work."
The evening�s expert panel of Celebrity Gongers will include local community
figures: John Threllfall (A&E Editor, Monday Magazine), Rob Fleming
(Victoria City Council), and Paul Funkula (Retrowear�s King of Kitsch).
