The University Club event and conference centre joined Queen's University's Housing and Ancillary Services portfolio in November 2024 and provides services and space for all guests to socialize, dine, and host events. With stunning water views and historic charm, the University Club's legacy is preserved through its core offerings, which the Queen's community has come to value over the last 75+ years.
History: St. Lawrence Cottage, the original building on the Club's site was constructed in 1845 by Reverend Wm. Macaulay Herchmer, a prominent Kingston citizen. Over the next century, the original "country home" was extensively modified by successive owners. A large addition was made in 1968-69, to enhance the facilities for its new function as The Queen's University Faculty Club, which officially opened in 1969.
Queen’s University is committed to preserving the Club’s legacy and honouring its legacy members, whose support and regular use have been critical in maintaining operations in recent years.
Parking NotesParking in the surface lot directly in front of the University Club is permit parking only, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. However, as a special courtesy, there is no parking enforcement in this lot for weekday lunch service from 11:30am-2:30pm, and for special events after 5:30pm.
Stuart Street underground parking is located at the corner of University Avenue and Stuart Street (across from Kingston General Hospital) and is a short walk to the University Club.
Pay and display City of Kingston parking is available on Stuart Street, between Albert Street and University Avenue.
