The breeze dancing through a lazy wheat field. The river falling over ancient immutable granite. The symphonic concert of a thunder storm. Artists have been connected and inspired by nature since we began to tell stories. From performers to pollen, each of us is a terraformer of our environment.
Living Edge is dedicated to exploring the natural phenomenon at the fringe of performance and ecology. Inspiring conversation and conservation through theatrical performance in significant sites.
Our Story
We have innovated ways to tell human stories with many collaborators over the years. Fruitful explorations include mega musicals in far off parklands of Aotearoa, intimate folklores along hiking trails in Muskoka, and immersive science-fiction moving art in derelict buildings around the Greater Toronto Area. Establishing a root practice of eco-scenography in 2023, we recollected our field notes from the past 15 years, and launched Living Edge as a force of nature.
We've set up our Base Camp in stunning Brockville Ontario, an ecologically significant region of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere and the Thousand Islands eco-system. We help attune artists to ecological collaboration; practicing net-zero and green theatre initiatives. Our partnerships with St. Lawrence College and Queen's University provide fertile research opportunities to ask the question: how do we define performance in unstable or degenerative environments? What can we learn about ourselves from our head waters to reframe our anthropocentric story telling methods.
Our core values are simple: conservation, innovation, and evocation. I am so happy your trail has brought you to us, come and share the next few steps of our journey together.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
