Gerda is the lead vocalist of Moody Ruby, bringing passion, energy, and a genuine love of live music to every performance.

She has been singing for as long as she can remember, but it wasn’t until a life-changing event at age 45 that she took the leap into collaborating with other musicians and performing live. That decision opened the door to a musical journey that continues to grow.

Gerda is forever grateful to her first band, Taurus Judge, which paved the way for many of the opportunities that followed. She joined the band as lead vocalist in December 2020 and remained with them until June 2023. After taking a break, she returned to the stage with Break the Night in May 2025, performing with the band until March 2026. Although the experience was relatively short, it was a pivotal period in her musical growth. Performing numerous live gigs in a short time helped her develop greater confidence, stage presence, and versatility as a vocalist.

Wanting to focus more on performing in and around her hometown of Kingston, Gerda eventually co-founded Moody Ruby with Jim Nardi and Jon Nye.

A vocalist at heart, Gerda is also a guitarist and can often be seen picking up an acoustic guitar during Moody Ruby performances. For her, music is about freedom, connection, and the energy shared between performers and the audience.

She thrives on a crowd that sings along, dances, and truly gets into the music. Their energy fuels her own and inspires her to give everything she has to every performance.

For Gerda, it’s all about creating that connection between the band and the audience—and making every show a memorable experience.
