Riot Grrrls Burlesque Revue

The Riot Grrrls Burlesque Revue is a collective of feminists living in Victoria, BC who promote social activism through the art of burlesque. The name “Riot Grrrls Burlesque Revue” is an ode to the underground feminist punk movement that started on the West coast in the 90s. We focus on using burlesque as a tool for empowerment, and to highlight significant trending political phenomena through satire and theatrics. We stand in solidarity with our burly-siblings and stripper-sisters everywhere. We believe in equality. We stand against the systemic oppression of our own bodies. We celebrate the diversity of the human body. We celebrate body-positivity and sex-positivity. We are a group of conscious womyn who dare to explore topics of misogyny, sexuality and gender-fuckery on stage. We open our hearts to explore our own sexuality through movement and play and believe in the power of connection past with 4th wall. We invite people of all genders and sexualities and from all walks of life to join us at one of our quarterly shows that feature our passion for performance, our love of laughter, fun & play, our diversity, and our subversive attitude.
