Margo studied Fine Arts at Langara College in the late 1980s, where she developed a special love of figure drawing, painting and sculpture. One of her instructors, Gordon Caruso, was a prominent West Coast abstract artist who encouraged her to develop her intuitive and expressive approach to painting. She paused her artistic career to raise a family and support her husband’s business but maintained her love for painting.
Returning to art once her children were older, Margo joined The Tumbleweed Gallery in Penticton, an artist collective. Her work combines sculptural and abstract elements into a unique figurative style using layered acrylics. Her technique, discovered by accident, involves building texture and letting images emerge late in the process, creating distinctive pieces.
Margo’s art evokes emotions from contemplation to joy. Viewers often find her work relatable and thought-provoking, with some moved to tears. She encourages audience interaction through projects like "Open to Interpretation," which invited viewers to contribute meanings and titles.
Influenced by Caruso, Miró, Kandinsky, Chagall, and Twombly, Margo has been a member of the Gage Gallery since 2015. She focuses on making art accessible to everyone, believing in its power to enrich lives. For Margo, success is found in every connection her art inspires.
