Nancy Walker Quartet
After an early professional career in high-end pop (Parachute Club, Sylvia Tyson), Toronto-based pianist Nancy Walker got serious about jazz. Real serious. Currently, this alternately forceful and lyrical keyboard dazzler has four acclaimed albums as a leader, and in 2003 was honoured with the Grand Prix de Jazz from the Montreal Jazz Festival. Walker is also a gifted composer, with a keen ear for piquant harmonies and gorgeous melodies. Her all-star band consists of Kirk MacDonald saxophone, Kieran Overs bass, and Barry Romberg drums.
“Walker is an imaginative player who brings boundless energy to the keyboard.”
