Sonny Rhodes Blues Band

A veteran bluesman, Sonny Rhodes is a �road warrior� similar to Albert Collins and Freddie King (he started out playing bass in both their bands). Displaying the characteristic hard-driving sound of his native Texas, Rhodes combines gruff, warm-as-whiskey vocals with a pared-down guitar style that alternately stings and purrs. (His latest album, Texas Fender Bender, is a scorcher.) Aside from the excitement of his live performances, what really sets him apart is his legendary lap steel guitar appropriated from country music. Rhodes has rocked Victoria before, so please welcome the band back to JazzFest as they give this city another taste of his rootsy southern soul!
