The Grand Slam 2009

The Seattle Poetry Slam is a weekly poetry extravaganza that takes place at SPITFIRE, in the Belltown neighborhood of downtown Seattle, on 4th Ave., btwn Bell & Blanchard, every WEDNESDAY at 8:00pm.

OPEN MIC, Featured Poet and...THE SLAM - a competitive poetry reading where the focus is equally split between the content of the poem and how it is performed. The judging of this competition is done by randomly picked members of the audience, resulting in the democratization of poetry!!

Slam winners receive cash prizes and a chance to represent Seattle on the National and International level against the greatest performance poets in the world!!! WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO COME EARLY TO GET ON THE MIC!!! we only take 6 in the open mic and 8 in the slam! Spots get taken up quickly!
Seattle Poetry Slam is home venue to the 2007 Individual National Poetry Slam Champion Danny Sherrard; two time Individual National Poetry Slam Champion Anis Mojgani; two time World Poetry Slam Champ Buddy Wakefield; 2007 IWPS Finalist Ryler Dustin; and Tara Hardy - 4th ranked female Poetry Slammer in the country and founder of the Bent Writing Institute.
