Bia Ferreira
When Bia Ferreira is holding her guitar and singing her songs of power and struggle, you cannot help but stand up straight, pay full attention and let it overwhelm you. The Brazilian singer, multi-instrumentalist, activist and songwriter is an absolute force of nature. Ferreira's stage presence is commanding and undeniable; an entrancing performer that leaves a wake of new fans wherever she goes. Playing her own mix of funk/r&b/reggae and soul, her songs are powerful and clear, directly addressing racism, women's rights, LBTQA+ rights, and Brazil's racial quota system. Her immense talents as an instrumentalist started at just 3 years old, when she started to learn piano. This early interest led her to study piano officially at Brazil's Conservatorio Brasilero de Musica, where she began playing other instruments including guitar, bass, drums and djembe. The self-proclaimed Pastor of the Lesbiterian Church, Ferreira is a uniquely powerful presence in music and not someone to be missed if you notice her coming around your way.
