The Cathedral Church of Saint George in downtown Kingston is delighted to announce that the Capella Regalis Choirs of Men, Boys & Girls, one of North America’s most celebrated choirs in the English Choral Tradition, will be bringing two captivating musical performances to Kingston as part of Quebec-Ontario tour.

Led by Nick Halley and Vanessa Halley, with Grammy Award–winning organist Paul Halley on organ and piano, the choir has earned international acclaim for their performances featuring innovative programming and a strong commitment to historically informed practice, captivating audiences with repertoire that spans centuries while bringing fresh vitality to early and sacred music.

The Choirs will offer two performances – one in the form of an ancient sacred service (Choral Evensong), and the other a concert titled Sea Songs & Sacred Anthems, an eclectic program that weaves together sacred music old and new with imaginative interpretations of sea shanties and folk songs, creating a rich and engaging musical journey.

Wednesday, May 28 – 7:00 p.m.: Choral Evensong (FREE)

A special service of Choral Evensong sung by Capella Regalis Men, Boys, and Girls Choirs. The service will feature splendid music for Pentecost with works by English composers William Harris, Herbert Howells and Thomas Tallis. The anthem is Paul Halley’s captivating setting of ‘Jesu, the Very Thought of Thee’. All are welcome to attend this one-hour service of music and prayers.

Thursday, May 29 – 7:00 p.m.: Sea Songs and Sacred Anthems Concert (TICKETED)

A rich and varied concert program of sacred and secular anthems performed beneath the Cathedral dome featuring repertoire from their latest album Songs of the Sea with choir, organ, piano and percussion. Expect a feast for the ears showcasing a Halifax-based choral ensemble performing a range of repertoire from Gregorian Chant to sea shanties. Bringing together sacred pieces of the choral canon with fresh arrangements of traditional folk songs from around the world by multi-Grammy Award-winning Canadian composer and keyboardist Paul Halley, this concert offers a mix of classical and distinctly Maritime music which is sure to delight!
