New funding opportunity for live music workers: Canada Performing Arts Workers Resilience Fund

The Government of Canada recently announced the Unison Fund as a recipient of the Canada Performing Arts Workers Resilience Fund (CPAWRF), to disburse to help independent, self-employed live music performance workers sustain their career amid challenges caused by the pandemic. As of July 6, 2022, any independent or self-employed Canadian live music worker can now apply for a one-time payment of $2,500 online here. Unison provides financial and mental health assistance and will use this funding to help live music professionals via their new funding stream, the Live Music Workers Fund (details can be found here). In a statement to members, the Canadian Live Music Association said, “Thank you to the Government of Canada for committing funding to help support the reestablishment of the Canadian live music industry.” Posted: May 3, 2023 Originally Published: Jul 6, 2022
