If you haven't yet heard of or seen The Kildeers perform live, you're likely familiar with the band's three members. Singer-songwriter Jen Calder performs regularly at Kingston coffee houses and breweries; James Mulvale has made a name for himself, or rather, his alter-ego, FASTFAST; and drummer Mat McAllister has been a mainstay of the local blues scene as a member of Hellhound Trail, Saul T. Doggs and others.

Together, the three have been writing, recording and performing as The Killdeers, and on January 1, they released their first recorded offering: A single titled The Escape.

"We are very excited about this release," remarked Calder about The Escape. "The song is about re-kindling hope by escaping the every day with someone special, and the lyrics will connect with anyone who has ever wished to sneak away into the night."

The single release comes ahead of The Kildeers' planned release of a full, debut album of recorded material. "Our debut album, Faster Than the Light, will be released in Spring 2025 and we are planning a big celebration with support from other local artists," Calder explained.

The single is available for purchase from Bandcamp (web link). You can catch The Kildeers performing live in Kingston on January 3 at The Royal Tavern 2.0. Details here: web link Posted: Dec 31, 2024
