Megan Hamilton premieres new single, video at KCFF
Born from her four-day artist’s residency at Kingston Grand Theatre, and a challenge from her 12 year old daughter, Horse Thief Bay Road is the latest single from eclectic folk rock artist Megan Hamilton. Teaming up once again with Jim Bryson, the song captures long drives along the 1000 Island Parkway during lockdowns, finding purpose in movement and glimmers of joy in the sunlight sparkling on the water.
Megan is the epitome of an indie musician. She’s recorded in town halls in rural Saskatchewan as well as studios in Alabama, London, Toronto, Kingston and Stittsville. With five recordings to date, she is currently working on her sixth, The Water Remembers Us From Before, the artist describes as "a sort of love song to Kingston."
Hamilton's music has been described as “[e]vocative after-hours songs delivered with smoke-and-whiskey vocals.” (Sarah Liss, CBC) and her independent spirit ensures the deep feelings aren’t smoothed out of the music with autotune. She’s booked national and US tours for her band, played in some high-profile festivals like Wolfe Island Music Festival and Skeleton Park Arts and Music Festival, and been hand-picked to open for international stars My Morning Jacket, Royal Wood, Pink Mountaintops and many, many others.
Hamilton will release the new single on Friday, February 28, followed by the world release of its accompanying music video at the Kingston Canadian Music Festival on March 1, 2025 as part of the Slaight Music Video Showcase (

The video was directed by Jeremy Larter ["Who's Yer Father?"] using footage from Picton, Trenton, Deseronto and Kingston.
