You’re going to be opening for a legendary band this upcoming Thursday February 6, The Sadies to be specific, how cool of an opportunity is this for you?

Evan: This is a big one for us. I saw the Sadies live for the first time in 2015 at the Toronto Urban Roots festival (I was still in high school). I remember dragging my friend from stage to stage at that show being blown away by all of the amazing, mostly Canadian talent. Even before seeing the sadies, it's a name that I had grown up hearing around the home, as my parents were fans as well. I remember seeing them at the grad club a couple of years ago, and saying " man I would love to open for these guys" so when I got the text that we were confirmed to open for them, it was actually during a band practice, which was sort of serendipitous and made the moment even more exciting.

I know you’ve been working on recording music. Any reveals you can tell us? What is the direction your music trajectory is going vs when you started?

Evan: Yes, I can say that I've got an album on the way, it's my first endeavor to make something this big before, and we are super proud of it. When people hear it, they're going to be able to tell that I've made a leap from solo singer-songwriter to full band, the guys have been much more involved in the production of this record compared to anything I've done in the past, and it sounds big, cinematic, but with lots of my usual lyrical tomfoolery peppered in here and there. The first single off the record is called " It's Not You " and it's a spiteful little country rock tune. We'll play it next Thursday and give it a test spin, and it'll be released shortly after.

We are living for your originals, but you also do a Fleetwood Mac cover of Dreams that is absolutely bangin. Will we get a taste of this during your set?

Evan: It's funny you mention covers, we've been going back and forth on how many to do. As an opener It's kind of a funny position to be in, hype the crowd up with stuff they know, but also show em what you're made of. We are focusing on covers by artists that have directly inspired songs on this new record, and focusing on showing people who we are as a band. That being said, one of our biggest influences is the band we have the privilege of sharing the stage with, so you never know what we will whip out...
