Nice On are taking on a new flavour with their latest album, Not Dead, continuing to push their funk boundaries while infusing them with a smooth dose of R&B, which is not an uncommon marriage of sounds, but one that feels right at home in their hands.

Self-produced by Nice On’s own drummer, Jordan Bulhoes, Not Dead marks a refreshing return following a brief hiatus and lineup change. There’s still plenty of the groove that made the band so easy to latch onto in the first place, but this time around, Nice On are stretching out and exploring where else that sound can take them.

The funk remains at the album’s core, while its R&B influence gives the music a smoother, more soulful edge. Rather than feeling like a complete reinvention, Not Dead sounds like a natural evolution.

Most importantly, Nice On are still infectiously catchy -  like a good feeling disease you’re perfectly happy to catch. Not Dead feels made for a live room, and we can’t wait to see what this new era of Nice On sounds like on stage.

Listen to Not Dead and hear Nice On’s latest evolution for yourself.
