Mayor Bryan Paterson recognized the recipients of the 2024 Mayor’s Arts Awards at a special reception last night in Memorial Hall at City Hall. The Mayor's Arts Awards is an annual program that celebrates high artistic achievement and recognizes extraordinary contributions to the arts.
The 2024 Mayor’s Arts Awards recipients by category are:
Creator Award recipients: Tyffanie Morgan, Hill Werth, W.C. Creatives (Jaylene Cardinal and Dakota Ward)
Arts Champion Award: Sistema Kingston
“Congratulations to the outstanding artists, collectives, and arts supporters who were celebrated last night at the Mayor’s Arts Awards reception! Kingston’s arts community is a cornerstone of our city’s vibrancy and identity,” says Mayor Bryan Paterson. “It’s an honour to come together and recognize the remarkable contributions that make Kingston a more creative and inspiring place to live.”
The City of Kingston’s Arts & Culture Services department administers the Mayor’s Arts Awards program in partnership with the Kingston Arts Council. The program introduced an open call for nominations this year, which resulted in 58 submissions, reviewed by a Selection Committee. The City also updated the program’s award categories to better reflect the diversity of Kingston’s arts community.
The 2024 Mayor’s Arts Awards recipients will be formally recognized by City Council at tonight’s meeting.
