The current lineup of the band Teenage Kicks is a powerhouse of talent:

The band is back and tighter than ever before! Scheduled to rock the Broom Factory stage on April 26 (web link) with openers Forty Seven Teeth and The Astros, Teenage Kicks is kicking up a storm once again. We caught up with Peter Van Helvoort, the co-founder of Teenage Kicks and a member of The Glorious Sons, to discuss their resurgence, sound, upcoming plans, and the best places to eat in Kingston.

A Bit of History

The original run of Teenage Kicks kicked off in 2010 and came to a close in 2015. During their heyday, they released notable EPs, an LP, and a plethora of singles through their "Singles Club" operated from their house/recording studio in Toronto.

The Resurgence

Peter Van Helvoort shares the story of Teenage Kicks' revival. It all began when he booked a show for his other band, "Darling Congress," at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern a few years back. The night took an unexpected turn when Peter, along with his brother Jeff, decided to perform a few Teenage Kicks songs to cap off the event. The chemistry was undeniable, and the spark reignited. The band's resurrection was marked by a memorable performance, and the rest, as they say, is history.

The Sound

Describing their sound as a modern-day CCR, Peter reflects on the evolution of their music. However, he acknowledges that their sonic journey has led them to explore a range of sounds.
