This Remembrance Day, KPP Concerts presents Pony Girl live in Kingston at The Broom Factory in celebration of their latest full-length release, Laff It Off (Paper Bag Records). Opening the show will be local alt-pop sensation, Luella.
A playful departure from the group's debut, Laff It Off as an album, urges listeners to let go. Exclaim magazine describes the LP as, "…even more accessible while retaining the whimsy of their musically dexterous, off-centre arrangements.”
Still present are bandmates' Pascal Huot and Yolande Laroche’s signature vocal harmonies. Earmilk describes Laff It Off as, "…a seamless blend of playful fingerpicking with surging synths, the anthemic production sways between moments of intensity and tender introspection, making for a tune that’s both cathartic and catchy."
With the album release, Pony Girl also unveiled a music video for “Wannabe,” produced by K Collective (web link). The new single joins previously released singles, “Highways,” “I Believe In Nothing” and “Laff It Off," which was featured on CBC Q earlier this year.
Advance tickets for their Kingston performance at The Broom Factory on November 11 are $15 plus fees, and are available for purchase online here. web link Posted: Nov 10, 2023
